For Thai nationals, the required document is a Thai identification card, household registration booklet (Tabian Baan), Name Change certificate (if any), Surname Change Certificate (if any), and divorce certificate (if any).
A Certified copy of your passport and the affirmation of freedom to marry (Single certificate) can be obtained at your national Embassy in Thailand only. Most of the Embassy will have their specific requirement, i.e., the divorce certificate (if any) or proof of single status from your country. In addition, an appointment with the embassy may be required.
Some Embassy in Thailand does not provide the service of affirmation of marriage, i.e., Myanmar. If your Embassy does not provide this service, you can contact us for more information to prepare your document for marriage registration in Thailand.
After obtaining a certified copy of your passport and the affirmation of marriage (Single certificate), the documents need to be translated into Thai and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Thailand. An appointment with the MFA is also required.
Marriage registration in Thailand can only be done at a District Office (Amphur) with two witnesses and one interpreter. The marrying party must show their consent and intention to register the marriage. The District Registrar will register the marriage and issue a Marriage Certificate (Khor Ror3)and Marriage Registration Certificate (Khor Ror2) in Thai.
